Peaches And Cream Smoothie

It sure feels like summer takes forever to arrive. The tease of spring can be overwhelming. But then, one day, before you know it, it’s in full force. The sun is bright, the trees lush and the air is warm and encompassing. For me, summer brings a sense of calmness. Life is slower, easier, and uplifting, something that is incredibly needed after the year we’ve had. With this joyful season (and vaccinations) comes reunions with friends and family, excursions and adventures, and a welcome break from the daily grind. Summer is truly an amazing time.

Another thing I love about this special season is the desire to eat a little bit healthier. It’s a nice opportunity to re-group and change the bad habits we all fall victim to. Fruits and vegetables are at their finest and abundant during this season and everything looks and tastes better. Fresh fruits like sweet, juicy peaches are seductively luring (and I say this as a person who does not love peaches). Let’s face it, in the summer, everything is better.

With efforts toward healthier eating in the warmer months, a refreshing smoothie gets moved to the forefront again. Smoothies are a light, healthy option with limitless possibilities. For breakfast, as a snack, to cool off or re-fuel, smoothies replenish, and I can’t get enough of them in the summer.

Peaches and Cream Smoothie

This is a smoothie recipe where fresh peaches are the true star. This is an effort to highlight a fruit I can sometimes overlook. If the summer ripeness of a fresh peach is not enticing enough, just ponder the nutritional value of these beloved stone fruits. Peaches are rich in many vitamins (including A, C, and E) minerals, and beneficial plant compounds, and the best part, they are packed with antioxidants.  Peaches also have soluble and insoluble fiber which is great for your body’s digestive track. What’s not to love? So if you’re looking for that perfect fruit-forward, seasonal smoothie to try, save this recipe and be ready to give this creamy peaches and cream smoothie a shot when summer officially hits, trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
