Good Tidings Cocktail
To be clear, it’s still cranberry season, at least it is to me. I first read about a Good Tidings cocktail in Esquire. I’m not sure where that magazine has been all my life (although apparently the answer is: on my husband’s nightstand). Esquire regularly has fantastic drink features. I loved the flavors in this drink, but the name “Good Tidings” (which by definition means “to bring good news“) is what hooked me. My version of this cocktail is somewhat similar to the original but punched up a bit with the addition of rum to evoke a more warming winter cocktail feel that’s needed this time of year. The end result of my tinkering is a good one.
Traditional winter flavors, such as cranberry and allspice are incorporated into this recipe to help enhance this cocktail’s flavor profile, while still keeping it light, refreshing and not too overwhelming. Similar to a Tom Collins, this playful, low-sugar beverage is great for sipping any weekend night with friends. So, if you’re a Collins fan already, or just looking for something different to drink this winter, look no further, I gotcha covered and I think you’ll be pleased.
